چکیده

Modeling and Neutral-Point-Potential Control ofNeutral-Point-Clamped PWM Rectifiers using an Optimal Regulator Shoji Fukuda, Member, Yasumasa Matsumoto, Associate (Hokkaido University), Akira Sagawa, Member (Hitachi Co., Ltd.) Neutral-point-clamped voltage source rectifiers(NPCR) are suitable for high voltage systems because of their circuit structure. The NPCRs, however, have a problem that the neutral point potential(NPP) varies when the current flows into or out of the neutral point. The variations cause voltage deviations in the input waveforms as well as unbalanced voltage stress on the devices. Accordingly, reducing NPP variations is very important. This paper describes a controlling method for NPCRs based on a state space model. The neutral point current is treated as one of the inputs. The controller is designed based on the optimalregulator theory in order to achieve the control of DC voltage, power factor and NPP, simultaneously. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by experimentalresults.

Optimal-regulator-based control of NPC boost rectifiers for unity power factor and reduced neutral-point-potential variations

Neutral-point-clamped pulsewidth modulation rectifiers (NPCR’s) are suitable for high-voltage systems because of their circuit structure. The NPCR’s, however, have a problem, in that the neutral point potential (NPP) varies when the current flows into or out of the neutral point. The variations cause voltage deviations in the input waveforms, as well as unbalanced voltage stress on the devices....

Three Phase Three Level Unidirectional PWM Rectifier

Almost two decades of research on unidirectional three-phase multilevel boost-type pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifiers have shown the benefits of employing this technology to comply with power quality standards while assuring high efficiency and low volume and weight. However, the unidirectional topologies directly derived from the conventional three-level bidirectional converters, such as ...

Feedback control of three-Level PWM rectifier: Application to the stabilization of DC Voltages of five-level NPC active power filter

One of the most important drawbacks of the three phases five-level NPC (Neutral Point Clamped) Active Power Filter (APF) is the neutral point balance. As the consequence, the capacitors voltages of the input DC bus of the APF are not equal which constitutes the major limitation for the use of this power converter. In order to stabilize these DC voltages, it is proposed in this paper to study th...

A New N-Level Inverter Based on Z-NPC

First of all, in this paper, the topology and operation of the three-phase three-level Z-source inverter based on neutral-point-clamped (Z-NPC) are studied. Moreover, different combinations of permissible switching states and control signals are explained for this inverter. In this paper, the topology of the three-phase three-level Z-NPC inverter is extended for an n-level state. Also, a combin...
